Consent information for What matters most

This page has information about the What matters most project, to help you decide if you want to participate and how we can use your creation.

We need you to think about the things on this page before giving consent to take part.

If you need help with any of this information you can call the Commission on 1300 78 29 78 or send an email to engage@ccyp.vic.gov.au.

What will we do with your creation?

The creation you share may be used to:

  • tell the Victorian Government and other people in Victoria about what needs to change for children and young people to feel safe, supported and engaged. We do this by talking with decision makers, writing reports and submissions and delivering presentations.
  • advocate for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • raise public awareness about the challenges faced by children and young people by publishing what you send us on our website and social media. Each time we do this; we will try our best to let you know before we share it.

We will look at everything you send to us. Even if we don’t publish your creation, it will still be used to inform our work. Publishing your creation means anyone can see it.

What we won't do with your creation

We won’t use your creation for anything that might cause you harm or to make money.

What happens if we publish your creation?

You will still own any creation you send to us!

If you give us consent, you are letting us use your work. The only things we will use it for are listed under 'What will we do with your creation?'.

Sometimes we might change your creation slightly so that we can use it. This could include things like editing an image to fit it in a social media post, or using parts of your written piece. We will not change the meaning of your work.

Your privacy

You need to think about what you feel comfortable sharing about yourself. You can choose what personal information you’d like shared. If you’re unsure about sharing something with us, you could talk to a trusted adult to check if it’s right for you. If you have any questions, you can also contact us.

If you let us publish your name, age or image (for example, if you send us a video or photo) people might recognise you.

If you don’t want this, let us know in the consent form and we’ll make sure that we don’t share anything that might make you recognisable.

If anyone else's picture or name is in your creation, make sure that they have given their consent too.

We’ll always follow privacy laws to keep your information safe. Learn more about your privacy rights.

Your safety matters

If we think that you or someone else might not be safe, we might need to tell someone like child protection or the police. If you tell us that someone may have broken the law or intends to break the law, we may need to tell relevant authorities to keep you safe.

We’ll always try to talk to you first.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • change your mind
  • make a complaint
  • edit your creation.

You can change your mind and cancel your consent at any time. If your work has already been shared, we may not be able to delete it from something we’ve published, but we will delete it where we can.

If you want to see what you sent to us or edit your creation or the information about you, let us know by calling the Commission on 1300 78 29 78 or by sending an email to engage@ccvp.vic.gov.au. You can do this at any time.

You can also tell us if you are worried about any of the information you shared with the Commission.

If you have concerns or want to make a complaint about your experience in the What Matters Most project, you can call the Commission on 1300 78 29 78 or send an email to engage@ccyp.vic.gov.au.
