In National Child Protection Week, work towards a better child protection system in Victoria was last night highlighted through the announcement of the 2024 Victorian Protecting Children Awards.
Two awards were presented by the Commission – the Child and Youth Empowerment Award, and the Walda Blow Aboriginal Children and Young People Award.
The Child and Youth Empowerment Award was won by the Brave Foundation for their work in centring the voices of young people, including in the co-design of their Supporting Expecting and Parenting Teens program.
The Walda Blow Aboriginal Children and Young People Award was won by the Garinga Bupup Early Intervention Program run by the Bendigo and District Aboriginal Co-operative. Their program provides wraparound, culturally safe early intervention support for young Aboriginal mothers.
