The Governor in Council has appointed Meena Singh as Acting Principal Commissioner for Children and Young People commencing today.
Meena is the current Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People and will continue to hold this role while she acts as the Principal Commissioner.
Meena also brings a wealth of experience and skills to the role, including from her work at Victoria Legal Aid, Human Rights Law Centre and Aboriginal family violence support service, Djirra.
This appointment follows Liana Buchanan finishing up as Principal Commissioner on 23 March 2025 to take up the role of Deputy Commissioner of the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC).
Recruitment will begin shortly for the appointment of a substantive Principal Commissioner.
