ANZCCGA calls for action on child sexual abuse, not another royal commission

News 3 March 2025

In a joint statement issued today, the Australian and New Zealand Children's Commissioners, Guardians and Advocates (ANZCCGA) have called for government action on early intervention, better support services and community-driven responses to address child sexual abuse. Citing the Australian Childhood Maltreatment Study on the prevalence of abuse, and a 2024 AIFS report detailing the large-scale failure to implement key measures among 61 inquiries and 3,005 recommendations made from 2010–22, the group said the basis for action was already clear without the need for another royal commission.
