We monitor the safety and wellbeing of children held in preventive detention in Victoria by:
- monitoring the treatment of any child, 14 -17 years of age, detained under the Terrorism (Community Protection) Act 2003
- providing advice to the Attorney-General, other relevant ministers or the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police about the child’s treatment while preventatively detained
- reporting on our performance of this function and any general observations or conclusions in our Annual Report.
