Nominations open for 2021 Victorian Protecting Children Awards

Nominations open today for the 2021 Protecting Victorian Children Awards. As part of this, we are calling for nominations for the Modelling a Generous Community Award and the Walda Blow Award, which are both awarded by the Commission.

Modelling a Generous Community Award

This award was established by the Principal Commissioner for Children and Young People, and recognises an individual, team or group who has made a significant contribution to enhancing the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children experiencing vulnerability; through demonstrating the highest level of sustained personal commitment to meaningfully connecting children to their local community and improving the rights, safety and wellbeing of children.

Walda Blow Award

This award was established in partnership with the Victorian Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People, in memory of Aunty Walda Blow - a proud Yorta Yorta and Wemba Wemba Elder who lived her life in pursuit of equality.  

In Aunty Walda’s name, this Award recognises contributions of an Aboriginal person in Victoria to the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and young people.  For more information on Aunty Walda please visit the Aboriginal Victoria – Aboriginal Honour Roll web-site.
