Sector specific support

The Commission for Children and Young People has contracted eight partner organisations to  develop support to help organisations in specific sectors to meet the Child Safe Standards.

These organisations are currently planning and delivering a range of  tools and activities, including:

  • face to face training
  • online learning modules
  • written and audio-visual resources
  • information and advice services.

Available support

The table below provides a summary of the types of support currently available and continuing to be developed.

You do not need to be a member of the peak body organisation to access this support and you are encouraged to register directly with these organisations.

  • Residential boarding facilities
  • Tutoring businesses
  • Outdoor education providers
  • Face to face and online learning modules (including train the trainer) for learning and development staff, HR administers and managers.
  • Supplementary downloadable tools, videos and industry specific resources, including signs of harm identified in children, the approach to take in regards to risk management and a new checklist for robust recruitment practices

A community-based organisation or service, such as:

  • Charities

  • Face to face workshops and webinars specifically for Board members and Committees.
  • Supplementary downloadable tools, videos and industry specific resources.
  • A dedicated, time limited legal advice line (until 1 January 2017).

A sports club or organisation
  • Series of full day train the trainer workshops specifically for State Sports Associations and Regional Sports Assemblies.

A business that provides services for children, such as:

  • Professional baby-sitting, au pair services and nanny services
  • Party and entertainment services for children (in which children participate)
  • Amusement or play facilities for children
  • Online learning and planning tool.
  • A limited number of face to face sessions.

A business that engages or employs children, such as:

  • Creative services – film, theatre, performing arts, dance and music (in which children participate or perform)
  • Photography services for children
  • Talent and beauty competitions
  • Talent scouts and casting agencies
  • Face to face training sessions, including indicators of abuse and reporting.
  • Child Safe Standards facilitator training guide, including criminal offences.
